Clean Vessel Act Grant Program
This program provides funding to marinas and facilities that offer public access to sewage pumpout services, helping to reduce water pollution by improving waste disposal from vessels.
Description
The Clean Vessel Act Grant Program aims to reduce water pollution by providing funding for pumpout projects statewide. The program is designed to upgrade marinas' waste-handling facilities, allowing for proper disposal of sewage from vessels. Eligible applicants include facilities that provide public access to pumpout equipment, regardless of whether they are private or public. The program can fund up to 75% of eligible project costs, which may include site preparation, equipment purchase, installation, operations, maintenance, sewage hauling, and educational outreach. Applications are accepted year-round on a first-come, first-served basis, and grant recipients are encouraged to offer pumpout services free of charge, although they may charge a fee of up to $5 per vessel. Facilities must have all necessary permits in place before beginning work on pumpout systems, and a site visit by CVA staff may be required prior to funding approval.
