Local
Grundy County Community Foundation

This grant provides funding to local nonprofit organizations and government entities in Grundy County to support projects that improve community life in areas such as arts, education, health, and environmental welfare.

Description

The Grundy County Community Foundation provides grant funding to enhance the quality of life for residents by supporting local charitable organizations and projects in areas such as arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health, and human services. The Foundation has awarded over $2 million in grants since 2005, including $193,461 in 2023. With $2 million in total assets, it fosters connections between donors and organizations addressing community needs.

Grants are available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, government entities, and some tax-exempt organizations classified differently if their projects qualify as charitable. Prospective applicants outside the 501(c)(3) designation should confirm their project’s eligibility with the Foundation before submitting a proposal. Applications for the current grant cycle opened on November 15 and must be submitted by January 15, with awards announced in March. Interested applicants can access resources, including a workshop recording, to better understand the process and guidelines.

To apply, candidates should review the Foundation's Grant Guidelines and access the online grant management system. If not already registered, users must create an account to view open grants and begin their application. The platform allows applicants to save progress and return to complete the application later.

The grant application process is overseen by a local committee of volunteers who review submissions and make funding decisions based on their potential to enhance the community. The Foundation encourages individuals interested in joining the committee to complete an online interest form. For additional guidance, applicants can utilize the Foundation's Grantseeker's Resources for help with technical issues or grant writing.

The Foundation remains dedicated to fostering a stronger Grundy County by leveraging its funds to support impactful projects and by promoting volunteerism through its committee membership opportunities.
