Description
The Special Project Grants program from the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County supports nonprofit organizations implementing initiatives that enhance the quality of life in the county. These grants are intended for targeted, innovative projects that address pressing needs or opportunities in the areas of community development, health and human services, parks and the environment, and youth and education.
Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations serving residents of St. Joseph County, Indiana. The Foundation encourages applications that reflect creativity, community engagement, and sustainable impact. This program supports a diverse range of projects, including facility improvements, program expansions, and new service delivery models—provided they align with one of the four key focus areas.
The Foundation accepts applications twice a year, with deadlines on March 1 and October 1. If a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, applications must be submitted by 9:00 a.m. the next business day. Applications must be submitted through the Foundation’s online grant system, which opens six weeks prior to each deadline. To apply, organizations may utilize the Foundation’s budget template and are encouraged to review the Special Project grant guidelines thoroughly.
Grant recipients are required to acknowledge the Community Foundation’s support in their related communications, following the provided Grant Recognition Guidelines. Additionally, the Foundation offers tips to help strengthen applications and maintains a list of previously funded Special Project Grants to serve as examples for prospective applicants.
