Sally Brown McInnes and John “Mac” McInnes Charitable Trust

This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations focused on animal welfare and children's health, with a preference for those serving Colorado communities.

Description

The Sally Brown McInnes and John "Mac" McInnes Charitable Trust is dedicated to continuing the philanthropic legacy of the McInnes family by supporting charitable organizations, with a strong preference for those located in or serving Colorado. The foundation primarily funds programs focused on animal welfare and children’s health but also considers initiatives in arts, education, environmental conservation, human services, public and societal benefits, and religion. Grants are awarded twice a year, and applications must be submitted by March 31 or September 30 to be considered in the semiannual review process.

The trust primarily funds nonprofit organizations that have a proven track record of impact. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. While organizations from all states may apply, preference is given to those operating in or benefiting Colorado communities. The foundation does not typically fund capital improvements or multi-year commitments. Applicants who are declined must wait until the following calendar year to submit a new request.

Grants typically range from $20,000 to $35,000, with an average of 15 to 20 grants awarded each year. The total annual funding distributed by the trust is approximately $400,000. Applications are accepted year-round, but they must be submitted by the deadlines to be reviewed at the semiannual grant meetings held in late April and October. Grant decisions are generally communicated by May and November.

All applications must be submitted through the online grant application system or an alternative accessible application for assistive technology users. Upon submission, applicants will receive an automated confirmation email. Funded projects may be required to submit periodic progress reports and final reports as part of the grant agreement.

The McInnes Charitable Trust is managed by Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., along with committee members April Coors Brown Jenkins and Sherman T. Brown, V. The foundation upholds the values of its founders, who were longtime residents of Colorado and passionate supporters of animal welfare, children's health, veterans, Native American communities, environmental conservation, the arts, religion, and national heritage.

For more information or technical assistance, applicants can contact Wells Fargo’s grant administration support team via phone or email. Individuals seeking scholarships should refer to csascholars.org, as the McInnes Charitable Trust does not provide direct educational scholarships.
