Encouraging Citizen Involvement Grant
Description
The Herb Block Foundation aims to foster a responsible, responsive democratic government through promoting citizen involvement. Focused on enhancing citizen education and boosting voter participation in the electoral process, this grant supports projects that are strictly nonpartisan and refrain from lobbying for specific legislation or candidates. The Foundation, established with a $50 million endowment from the late Herb Block, supports the art of editorial cartooning alongside charitable and educational programs that align with the causes Block championed during his 72-year career. Grant amounts range from $5,000 to $25,000 for one year of funding. Projects ineligible for funding include capital or endowment programs, sectarian religious activities, and those incurring more than 10% of the grant in indirect costs outside of general operating support. Lobbying or other partisan activities are strictly prohibited. The Letter of Intent is due June 4, 2024.
