This program provides funding for cultural and educational projects that strengthen ties between the U.S. and Türkiye, encouraging collaboration in areas like security, innovation, democratic values, and cultural exchange.

Description

The "Public Diplomacy Grants Program" (Funding Opportunity Number: TR-NOFO-FY25-01), issued by the U.S. Mission Türkiye under the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, aims to enhance ties between the United States and Türkiye. This program provides grants for cultural and educational initiatives that foster mutual understanding and collaboration. Eligible proposals should incorporate a significant U.S. cultural element or partnership with American experts, organizations, or institutions to convey U.S. perspectives. Innovative approaches that leverage emerging technologies or expand existing networks are encouraged across all priority areas.

Key priority areas include:

1. Shared Security: Projects should support NATO cooperation between the U.S. and Türkiye, including public engagement activities like workshops or training that encourage dialogue on security issues. Projects that highlight the role of women in peace and security are particularly welcome.

2. Economic Prosperity and Innovation: This priority supports collaboration between U.S. and Turkish professionals in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), economic programs, and innovation initiatives. Projects may involve workshops or competitions aimed at addressing societal issues, including using technology to counter gender-based violence.

3. Democratic Values: Projects should promote respect for human rights and democratic norms in Türkiye, covering themes such as the rule of law, freedom of expression, and press freedom.

4. Turkish and American Cultural Ties: Proposals in this category aim to foster cultural, artistic, sports, and social connections between Turkish and American communities. Projects focused on preserving important cultural heritage sites in Türkiye also qualify.

Grants range from $15,000 to $35,000. Eligible applicants include higher education institutions, nonprofits with and without 501(c)(3) status, and individuals. Commercial entities, for-profit companies, and organizations with an existing open grant from the U.S. Mission Türkiye are ineligible. Applications are limited to one proposal per organization and must be submitted by May 2, 2025. For further details, applicants may contact the Public Diplomacy Section at GrantsTurkey@state.gov.
