Pihn Will Contract With Three Health Teachers Who Will Work As Consultants In Their Free Time To Recruit New Teachers And Schools To Offer The Curriculum In Classrooms Throughout The 2023 2024 Academic Year. They Also Will Provide Ongoing Support To Schools Already Utilizing The Cmb Program. To Incentivize Schools To Participate, Pihn Will Provide Participating Schools With An $8.00 Health And Wellness Award Incentive For Every Student Who Completes The Cmb Program.
West Virginia Center On Budget And Policy	$40,000	Charleston, WEST VIRGINIA	Conduct An Assessment Of The Impact Of Upcoming Changes To Federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Snap) Eligibility For "Able Bodied Adults Without Dependents" In Cabell And Mingo Counties. In Each County, Wvcbp Will Interview At Least 15 Individuals Impacted By This Policy Change To Assess How It Affected Their Food Need. Wvcbp Also Will Interview Food Pantry Staff And Other Key Informants In Each County To Determine Whether The Policy Change Results In Increased Demand At Food Pantries And, If So, Whether Food Pantries Are Able To Meet The Increased Need. Facing Hunger Food Bank Will Assist Wvcbp In Identifying Interviewees. Wvcbp Will Author Two Case Studies And Draft At Least Three Blog Posts Documenting Its Findings. It Also Will Educate Charitable Food Network Partner Organizations And Policymakers In Hopes Of Informing Policy Changes At The State And National Level To Snap Eligibility Requirements.

Approximately Seven, Six Week Series Will Be Held Throughout The Grant Period And Be Offered At Huntington's Kitchen, Cabell County, Wv, The Nancy In Lincoln County, Wv, And Ramey Estep Homes In Boyd County, Ky.
Marshall University Research Corporation	$37,844	Huntington, WEST VIRGINIA	Funding Is For The Marshall University Center Of Excellence For Recovery (Coe) And Its Prevention Empowerment Partnership (Pep). Pep Will Support Two Substance Use Prevention Leadership Programs For High School And College Age Youth In Cabell And Wayne Counties In West Virginia. For The First, More Intensive Program, One High School Student And Three College Students Will Receive 60 Hours Of Training On The Principles Of Evidence Based Substance Use Prevention, Leadership, Peer To Peer Teaching, Mentoring, Entrepreneurship, And Basic Community Coalition Prevention Strategies. These Trainees Also Will Accumulate Credit Hours Toward The West Virginia Prevention Specialist Certification. The Interns Will Then Apply This Training By Working Directly With Other Youth In Local Schools And Youth Attending Summer And After School Programming. For The Second Program, Up To 13 Youth Would Receive Community Service Hours And Small Stipends For Participating In The Youth Leaders Program.

Mcca Will Train 60 People From A Target Audience Of Youth, Parents, And Grandparents. The Five Cessation Workshops Will Cover The Steps Needed For A Successful Quit Attempt. A Nurse Will Also Provide Oral Health Screenings At These Workshops. Gallia County Schools Will Provide Transportation To Foh After School And Foh Staff Will Provide Transportation To Youth Home Each Day And To And From Home On Saturdays.
