City of Grover Beach WGA Business Grant Program
This program provides financial assistance to local businesses affected by construction disruptions along West Grand Avenue in Grover Beach, helping them maintain operations during the improvements.
The City of Grover Beach, in collaboration with the South County Chambers of Commerce, has launched the WGA Business Grant Program to support local businesses impacted by the construction of the West Grand Avenue Streetscape Project. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to businesses located within the construction zone, which extends from Highway 1 to 10th Street. The program offers grants of up to $2,000 per eligible business to mitigate the temporary disruptions caused by the ongoing improvements to the city’s main commercial corridor.
The West Grand Avenue Streetscape Project is a key infrastructure development effort designed to enhance the accessibility, safety, and vitality of Grover Beach’s commercial district. While the project is expected to bring long-term benefits to the area, the City Council recognized the potential short-term challenges for businesses operating within the construction zone. As a result, on January 27, 2025, the City Council allocated funding from the General Fund as part of a mid-year budget adjustment to establish the grant program. A total of 20 grants will be distributed.
The grant program is open to all businesses located within the designated project area. However, priority will be given to those that maintain public visibility and have direct customer engagement within the construction zone. The City has partnered with the South County Chambers of Commerce to oversee the application process and distribution of funds. Applications are currently being accepted online, with a closing date of March 7, 2025. The final selection of grant recipients will be subject to City Council approval, with funds awarded by April 30, 2025.
To apply for the grant, businesses must complete an online application through the City’s website. The selection process will prioritize businesses most affected by the construction and those demonstrating a clear need for financial support. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure consideration before the deadline.
For further information or questions about the program, businesses and residents may contact the City of Grover Beach at 805-473-4550 or visit the City’s website. This grant opportunity is part of the City's broader commitment to economic development and business retention, ensuring that local businesses remain resilient throughout the infrastructure improvements.
