ROSES 2025: C.14 Planetary Science and Technology Through Analog Research

This grant opportunity is part of NASA’s Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2025, specifically the Planetary Science and Technology Through Analog Research (PSTAR) program. The program supports scientific investigations that use planetary analog environments to develop and test technologies, systems, and scientific methods that will enable future planetary exploration. Research may include field-based testing of science-driven technologies, robotic systems, human exploration methodologies, and mission operational strategies.

Proposals must follow a two-step submission process. Step-1 proposals are due on August 12, 2025, and only those who submit Step-1 proposals can proceed to Step-2. Eligible applicants include institutions affiliated with NASA’s NSPIRES system, primarily U.S.-based organizations. Non-U.S. organizations may participate under no-exchange-of-funds agreements. NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) funds the program, and awards are provided as grants or cooperative agreements, typically for three years, though some may last up to five years.
